Yogyakarta: Kraton

The Kraton (Sultan Palace) remains in use and is open to the public.

When we arrived, we were just in time to witness some Tari Kraton (courtly Javanese Kraton dance).
The dance is very serene, elegant, slow paced and has constrained movements. The music playing is Gamelan - think chimes.

The urns are apparently Ming Dynasty - and left to suffer the elements!

The Dutch gazebo features decorative lighting

This gold-plated joglo is in the palace memorial for the IX Sultan, who passed in 1988
