Singapore Trip #1: The Marina Bay Sands

So blessed are we, that we get to stay at the Marina Bay Sands hotel.  A hotel made famous by its external architecture (looks like a ship floating in the sky) and the fact it hosts the largest infinity pool in the world.

The check-in process is efficient as expected - Shell gets taken to special little waiting are where can enjoy complimentary  tea/coffee and biscuits whilst she waits for me to complete the sign-in process.  The foyer is pretty impressive:

Yip, pretty cool.

Unfortunately, the rooms themselves are a let down.  A mishmash of furniture styles and poor design decisions lead to a room that feels crowded and 'motel'.  Some practical matters are also seriously overlooked;
  • There's no power point in the bathroom to allow use of a hair dryer in front of the well-lit mirror resulting in fumbling around trying to unplug the bedside lamp, or else trying to make use of the low mirror over the writing desk
  • The curtains are electronically controlled but the controller is on the far side of the desk
  • There's no hand towel rail and room for only one towel on the shower rail
  • There's no clothes line to dry your bathers - remember the pool is feature here!

So the rooms are generally underwhelming and there's much nicer places to stay for less.

However, the pool is spectacular:

 Definitely worth a swim!
